Purpose of the Online Writing Lab (OWL)

The purpose of this website is to provide Cleveland High School students with the necessary resources to be successful with writing assignments in all courses that are offered through Johnston County School District. The English Department's goal is to keep the standards and goals current to prepare all students for college courses; therefore, the rules within these pages reflect the requirements of the college system. Our department believes that all students are capable of achieving the same successes; therefore, we hold high expectations for all of our students. The rules and policies within this site are the expectations of professional writers and college professors.

If a student has any question regarding the information within this website, he or she should contact an English teacher for clarification. As Max Planck, the discover of quantum physics, suggested, "It is not the possession of truth, but the success which attends the seeking after it, that enriches the seeker and brings happiness to him."
